any regretted decisions?
So many major decisions in life, my parents have given to me especially for education.
For PSLE, I had a T-score of 233 and since I was a rugby player, I was offered trials in Raffles, ACS (I) and St. Andrews. Some of my rugby mates went to the latter two but I didn’t, in the end I went to TK and to this day I can offer no one a coherent explanation as to why I did so. And TK was my 4th choice.
Fast forward 4 years in the future and I had 9 points for O levels and a net of 7 points. I see children now applying to TJ with >10 points, to VJ with 9 points, ACJC is not a far prospect either…but my parents didn’t give me a choice as to which JC I could go to. Each JC was a choir audition away. It was either VJ or MJ. Why?
I could have gotten into VJ easily through choir, but I didn’t want to go for the appeal auditions even though nelson asked me too. Once again, no proper explanation for that.
Why not TJ? My family was against the idea of me going to a chinese oriented school.
Why not ACJC? Because it was all the way at dover?
Why not AJC? Too far.
Why no SAJC? Too far.
They were pathetic excuses in retrospect because I could have gone to a better school but I chose to be silly and remain in good ol’ MJ. You know I thought my batch were smart people who knew where their expectations lay and recognized which institution they could further their studies in.
those who got 9 points in my class typically went to SA, MJ
The 8 pointers to TJ
And the 7 pointers to VJ
Now what do I see? Everyone making a beeline irregardless of their points.
Little did I know the next batch were dreamers…but who knows?

I may not have liked mj as much at the start, but i’m going to miss mj a lot more than i missed tk. its just.. well, you’ll feel it once you hit next year
You can say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I stand in agreement.
@ quek: And I can’t wait for next year to come.
@ Az: didn’t say you were the only one.
@ Daniel: hear!hear!
Believe me, you wouldn’t want next year to come once it hits you that you’re finally leaving mjc.
you don’t get the song reference made by az?
@ quek: we never leave, we only run out of time.
@ anon: do i look like i listen to what he listens, John Lennon? Yeah, great.
