Chapter 128: What does he mean when he says one thing?

If there’s one thing good about arriving at a new institution be it a  new workplace, a new residency or even a new country, you get to start anew. No one knows your past, no one wants to delve into your history and you can keep mum and hide it from people.

They won’t know if you’ve had been an emotional wreck, harboured anti-establishment intentions or even about past relationships. You get a renewal, a rebirth and I would go so far as to say as a second or rather third chance at life because you have no preceding reputation.

Then from there, your past catches up with you so badly. it nibbles at your conscience quietly at first but you ignore it, preferring not to douse the little flicker of a match at the edge of a fabric. Oh what a big mistake when the fabric catches fire and it grows bigger and bigger until you are totally engulfed in both the flames and the fabric and you cannot douse the flames. The only thing you CAN do is to ignore it and die an otherwise peaceful death.

Oh why am I bothering with silly metaphors? when I saw the latest on her diary, I was startled. The black and white picture seemed oddly familiar.

I scrolled down to read words stuffed wth ignorance, immaturity and indefinite wanton love. What the hell was I then? Why was I so madly smitten by this one person?

Sure, at that time it seemed right, my words seemed right. Not to the point of desperate? No. Perfectly articulated? Yes. That was what I thought then.

To the point of desperate? Yes. Perfectly articulated? No. That’s what I think now.

A friend believes that all men or rather boys are scumbags, lying fiends, clingy assholes and over sensitive pricks.

Oh, how true. As much as we don’t like to admit it, as much as we want to protect our masculinity and put on the facade and often fantasial dream of being a knight of chivalry, we’re all so very weak. The one thing that can emasculate us is the sight of a woman and being in love.

When a woman sees a man she likes, she is smitten yes, she is infatuated yes, she is in love? no.

When a man sees a woman he likes, he is smitten yes, he is infatuated yes, he is in love? Yes, only for that moment.

They say when a man says “I love you” he means it only for that moment and only for that moment. At the precise moment he speaks those words, he’d readily surrender the burden of the world on his shoulders, he would rewrite what Nostradamus wrote, he would stop a car going at 300mph ith his bare hands and in the words of the mighty love-god, Air Supply, the man would make love out of nothing at all!

Aye, oh how the mighty have fallen and oh have the fallen been misled.

Both genders speak half truths, whole lies. What’s love?

Love is the perfect embodiment of half truths and the ignorance of whole lies.
