Chapter 91: Not far from an alternate reality
Just finished watching The Truman Show just now and yes, for once Jim Carrey turns in a brilliant performance as Truman Burbank. I guess everything after that except Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind was bullshit.
I remember Ms Lim mentioned the movie before somehow so I plonked my ass before HBO and watched it and it is good.

It basically follows the protagonist, Truman Burbank’s life for 24 hours the whole day on a TV channel, his every move recorded. He stays in a fictional town created by the TV corp called Seahaven in a dome where every character in town is an actor save one i.e. Truman Burbank who was picked from five ‘parentless’ babies to become the star of the show.
The show follows the discovery of his life being followed by cameras all over town watched by Cristof (Ed harris!) and how he struggles to find his true love and finding his way out of town. The show finally culminates in a wonderfully drawn conclusion whereby the godlike voice of Ed Harris tries to convince Truman to stay right before the door to the outside world, and truman says, “If I don’t meet you again, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night!”
And he steps out.
Wonderful, wonderful story, solid acting by Ed Harris, Jim Carrey is loveable for his naive persona and for once his humour is appreciated properly in this movie.
And truly, what if we were all being watched by millions around the ‘world’. Would we live our life differently?

Be appreciative for the fact that the person you’re in love with doesn’t run away from her problems and will talk to you about it. The problem with me is that I am too afraid to say it because I am too afraid to wreck it.
