Chapter Thirty Four: Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and New Year!

Christmas was unexpectedly nice, warm and fuzzy.

Came back from work yesterday and got pleasant birthday wishes through the night and woke up unceremoniously on Christmas morning feeling…Christmassy.

Watched Christmas specials and occasional naps here and there before I finally woke up to Mum giving me a watch for my birthday–> Apparently it signifies impending doom for one in Chinese superstition.

Lazed around for the whole day and then went for dinner with parents, cousin and uncle. Got another watch from them and that must mean I am one Man waiting for something bad to happen just around the corner.

Left at 7.30 or so to go meet Evonne.

You know, with each step as I got closer to Suntec City (she was there already…or so she thought) my heart started pounding faster and faster because after 2 years, it would have been a surreal experience.

And as luck would have it or something ripped out of a movie, we spent the next 45 minutes searching for each other as she got terribly muddled up all over the place and I was late in the first place so we were both to blame. We found each other at 8.50pm near the Fountain of Wealth.

After 2 years…seeing her was surreal, ethereal, unreal and just real.

Brought her to waffle cottage to eat waffles (typical American breakfast food apparently) and talk and try to squeeze 2 years of little or no news into less than an hour because she had to meet her mum to get back to their place.

Talked, ate messily and soon she had to go. It was a familiar warm, fuzzy and nice feeling to see her again but time was a privilege we couldn’t afford and soon she had to go and…a last goodbye and hug before she went off.

It felt so good.
